When you think about it, the concept is so utterly Augustinian. After all, Villanovans live as a community. They learn as a community. They serve as a community.
Why shouldn’t they donate as a community? Through the Luckow Family Scholarship Challenge, they can.
Parents Audrey and Robert Luckow, along with their daughter, Stefanie ’06 LAS, have made it easier for potential donors to become active ones in support of permanently endowed scholarships. For every donor who contributes a total of $75,000 over five years, the Luckows will contribute $25,000. For young alumni who have graduated since 1997, the Luckows will double a gift of $50,000.
Do the math. If 80 donors give $75,000, the gifts plus the matches will yield a total of $8 million for newly endowed scholarships. That’s as many as 80 high-achieving students with limited funds who won’t have to say, “Villanova is my dream school.” They‘ll be able to say, “Villanova is my home.”
Not every Villanova family can give $2 million to create a challenge. But working together will always allow us to achieve new heights as we strive toward the greater great.
That’s the power of an Augustinian community.
